Effective hourly rate
A single $/hr for commitment options — a Reserved Instance’s term total spread across its hours.
Reserved Instances are quoted as a total for the whole term, and Savings Plans as an hourly rate. To compare them on one axis, this explorer converts every commitment to an effective $/hr: for a reservation, the term total divided by the term hours (8,760 for 1 year, 26,280 for 3 years); for a Savings Plan, the published hourly rate.
Effective rates let you read a reservation, a Savings Plan, and On-Demand in the same column and see the true hourly cost of each.
